Hi! I am Eva Schets.
I am a freelance stop-motion filmmaker, specialized in puppet making and character animation. I have experience in commercial work and short films and a feature film.
I find myself at my happiest when knee-deep in craft materials or fully immersed in the character’s world when animating on set. There is something magical about the subtle boiling in the fur of a puppet or a thumbprint left behind on its clay surface. These small, often overlooked details are part of the storytelling itself, a quiet celebration of the hands-on process. They leave a trace of the effort and care that went into the creation. Yes, the process is tedious and laborious, but for me that is where the joy lies. This connection, this physical interaction, is what makes stop-motion so uniquely satisfying. The result is not just a film, but also an homage to the process that brought it to life.
I graduated in 2022 from the Willem de Kooning Academie with the short film ‘Rotkind‘, receiving a nomination for my work as Animator and Puppet maker (Best Performance by Crew – Fentener van Vlissingen Award, NFF).
In 2023 I was awarded with Best Showreel at the Debutant Ball of Kaboom Animation Festival.
